About the role

Original posting from Toast

Toast is driven by building a platform that helps our customers adapt, take control, and get back to what they do best: building the businesses they love. International expansion is a critical growth engine for Toast's future.

Outside the US, we currently operate in Canada, UK, Ireland, and Australia and are actively growing our share in these markets. As we move into the next phase of growth, the complexity of our platform surface area and customer segments is increasing materially. We are looking for a commercially-minded (Senior) Director of Product Management to enable this growth.

As a (Senior) Director of Product, International, you will lead the team of product managers to own the vision, strategy, and roadmap around upmarket expansion to support larger (15+ locations) groups, accelerating integration partner availability to ensure customers can use Toast alongside their preferred tech stack, and  expansion of our FinTech / payments pricing capabilities. Scaling and managing these domains require someone who can work credibly with customers, GTM teams, engineers, executive stakeholders, and external partners in equal measure.

This is a London based-role, partnering closely with teams across Canada, Australia, U.S., Ireland, and India, and a key part of our EMEA leadership team. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of how Toast serves customers in new markets.

A day in the life (Responsibilities)

Drive Strategy and Execution: Set the strategic direction across upmarket, partner, and payment expansion with a focus on how those areas interact and reinforce each other to meet the north star goals for the International line of business. Partner with engineering and product teams across Toast's platform teams to ship international features in their area. Navigate competing roadmaps, set clear success criteria, and hold delivery against contractual commitments.

Voice of Customer: Engage directly with customers, partners, and GTM teams to understand real needs — and use that grounding to pressure-test roadmap priorities and push back on assumptions that don't hold up in the field. Represent the voice of international customers as the PM voice for our global restaurant and hospitality brands in roadmap discussions, cross-functional reviews, and executive conversations.

Lead Through Influence: Champion cross-functional delivery across Product, Engineering, Design, Legal/Compliance, Hardware, Commerce, Risk, Finance, and Operations. This role has direct exposure to C-suite leadership and regular involvement in executive-level roadmap and strategy discussions.

Develop a World-Class Team and OS: Hire, coach, and develop a world-class team of Product Managers across multiple regions. Scale our operating model grounded in ownership, accountability, clarity, and exceptional execution.

Embrace and advocate for the use of AI tools to accelerate product discovery, streamline execution, and explore new product experiences - helping shape how we build and what we build.

What you'll need to thrive (Requirements)

15+ years of product management experience in SaaS or FinTech, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. You've owned a portfolio of products for a market, not just a feature area.

Commercial instincts. You understand how product decisions translate into revenue, retention, and customer value, and you make prioritization decisions accordingly.

Comfort with ambiguity at the charter level — you have shaped product direction from scratch, not just executed against someone else's vision.

A track record of working across a complex stakeholder map — engineering, GTM, finance, external partners — that do not report to you. You are comfortable driving alignment without losing sharpness in the process.

Strong people leadership. You build teams, give direct feedback, develop careers, and hold a high bar for product thinking without micromanaging execution.

Excellent written and verbal communication — crisp strategy docs, strong product reviews, and the ability to represent platform work clearly to executives and customers alike.

Experience managing product commitments that are tied to enterprise contracts or MSAs.

Genuine curiosity about the restaurant industry. You don't need to have run a restaurant, but you should want to understand how an operator thinks and how that thinking should shape what you build.
