About the role

Original posting from MongoDB

The Sr. Manager, Event Operations, leads the operating model behind MongoDB’s global Strategic Events portfolio. Reporting to the Director of Global Strategic Events, this leader owns the processes, platforms, planning cadence, and measurement framework that turn portfolio strategy into consistent, high-quality execution at scale, and leads the team that runs them.

This role is for an event operations leader who has run events hands-on and is ready to design how a global events function operates: how work is prioritized and resourced, how technology and AI are applied, and how event impact is measured and reported to senior leadership. You will build the operating model that allows Strategic Events to grow its reach and impact without a proportional increase in resources.

We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in Dublin for our hybrid working model.

What You’ll Do

Lead and develop the Strategic Events Operations team. Set priorities, define roles and performance standards, coach and develop team members, and hold a consistent bar for quality and execution across every program in the portfolio

Design and own the event operating model. Define the intake, workflows, governance, service levels by event tier, and operating rhythms that the Strategic Events team and its partners run on. Build the playbooks and standards that make execution repeatable across regions and event types

Translate strategy into execution. Partner with the Director of Global Strategic Events to turn portfolio strategy into team standards, event execution plans, and resourcing models

Own the events technology and data ecosystem. Be accountable for the project management tools (e.g., Wrike, JIRA), event and registration platforms (e.g., Cvent, Luma), and reporting systems the team relies on. Decide what to standardize, integrate, automate, or retire

Build and govern agentic workflows in production. Identify where AI agents and automation can take on work across planning, registration, reporting, and stakeholder communications, and design, deploy, and maintain those workflows at scale. Define where agents can act autonomously and where human review or approval is required, measure their impact on speed, quality, and team capacity, and lead the team in operating and evolving them

Plan capacity and manage the global events calendar. Run capacity planning, balance workload against company priorities, and surface resourcing risk early so it never becomes a delivery problem

Drive measurement and reporting. Partner with Marketing Ops to define the metrics, lead-flow tracking, and post-event reporting used across first- and third-party events, and synthesize results into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders

Act as the operations partner to Sales, Marketing, and Partner teams. Work through competing priorities, budget trade-offs, and process gaps directly, and keep stakeholders aligned on how Strategic Events works and what to expect

Continuously improve how the work gets done. Redesign roles, consolidate tools, and rebuild processes so the team can take on more with the resources in place. Make the call and see it through to implementation

Qualifications

8+ years in event operations, event marketing, or marketing operations, ideally in B2B SaaS or enterprise technology, with progressive scope and strategic impact

Experience leading and developing people in an events, marketing, or program operations environment, including setting priorities, coaching, and raising the standard of work

A track record of designing operating models, processes, or playbooks for an events or marketing organization that were adopted across teams and sustained over time

Deep expertise with event and registration platforms, project management software, and AI tooling

Hands-on experience applying AI and automation to operational workflows, and leading a team to make them part of everyday work

Strong analytical skills and fluency with data tools such as Tableau and Salesforce, with the ability to turn event and pipeline data into recommendations for senior stakeholders

Proven ability to influence and align stakeholders across functions, seniority levels, and time zones without relying on constant escalation

Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong meeting management and follow-through

PMP or CPM a plus
