ROLE DESCRIPTION

Form Energy is hiring a Staff EHS Engineer to support daily EHS operations at our Berkeley, California facility and nearby project sites. You will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of our team and facilities focused on battery design, engineering, and full-scale validation and testing. You will partner and work closely with our engineering team on the safety of novel technologies and associated EHS initiatives. You will work closely with the rest of our teams to provide a great and safe place to work. WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Support day-to-day EHS operations of a fast-paced engineering and test facility along with nearby prototype sites.
  • Develop, implement, and manage EHS programs and associated training.
  • Lead EHS review process including risk assessments and job hazard analyses for complex engineering operations.
  • Lead pre-startup safety reviews for commissioning complex equipment and systems.
  • Review hazard identifications (HAZIDs) and operability studies (HAZOPs) with engineering teams for safety and compliance.
  • Support hazard communication, chemical hygiene, and chemical safety programs.
  • Support industrial hygiene program including exposure assessments.
  • Lead regular safety committee and emergency response team meetings.
  • Support incident response, investigation, and root cause analysis.
  • Promote a strong, positive safety culture throughout the organization.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • 7+ years experience in EHS. Experience in engineering environments is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is a plus.
  • Passion for safety culture and EHS leadership.
  • Expertise in EHS regulations at local, state, and federal levels.
  • Expertise with battery engineering and testing, chemical hygiene, hazardous atmospheres, and/or NFPA 70E.
  • Demonstrated ability to obtain buy-in for safety initiatives across an organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across an organization.
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
