About the role

The Role

As Head of Retail, you’ll own Triumph’s retail presence. Every card pulled in Rips is a real card, but the rip itself was built for the phone. Now we’re taking it to the places collectors already go.

Over the next few years, that means our own stores and mall kiosks, vending machines, partnerships with local card shops, and a line of physical repacks. You’ll pick the formats and markets, prove them out in pilots, scale what works, and run the network day to day.

This is a builder role. You’ll be modeling unit economics, walking malls, negotiating with landlords and card shop owners, sourcing machines and fixtures, launching repacks with our collectibles team, and on the floor when the doors open. You’ll lead retail for Triumph with the full support of the operations team, and you’ll write the playbook every future location follows. This role reports to our Senior Director of Operations.

This role is based out of Fremont, with one day a week at Triumph’s headquarters in San Francisco.

What You’ll Do

  • Set Triumph’s retail strategy: which formats, which markets, in what order, and the unit economics behind each. Own the retail P&L.
  • Open and run our own stores and mall kiosks. Select sites with our real estate team, negotiate with landlords and mall operators, and manage buildouts through opening day.
  • Build and run a fleet of vending machines, from hardware vendors and placement deals to restocking routes and uptime.
  • Build a network of partner card shops, putting Triumph product and experiences in their stores on terms that work for both sides.
  • Work with our partnerships team to land product placement and shelf space with national retailers.
  • Bring Triumph’s physical repack line to market with our collectibles team, owning pricing, production, packaging, and distribution.
  • Coordinate with operations, security, and IT so every location opens with inventory, point of sale, payments, and loss prevention ready on day one.
  • Partner with legal and compliance to clear each format and market before launch.
  • Hire, train, and lead the retail team, from store staff to field operators.
  • Build the playbook: site criteria, format standards, partner terms, vendor bench, and opening checklists.
  • Travel regularly to markets, locations, and partner shops.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years in retail operations, with direct experience launching stores, kiosks, or vending fleets.
  • Track record of taking a retail concept from pilot to multiple locations while owning the P&L.
  • Financial rigor. You can model the unit economics of a store, a kiosk, or a single machine, and defend the numbers.
  • Experience managing high-value inventory, with loss prevention built into how you operate.
  • Experience hiring and leading teams spread across multiple locations.
  • Experience opening locations under real time pressure.
  • Comfort working directly with counsel on leases and partner agreements.
  • Comfort owning a function end to end and driving work to completion without a playbook handed to you.
  • Fluency with AI tooling as a daily working habit.
  • Bonus if you’ve run both staffed retail and vending, or have existing relationships with mall operators and retail landlords.

Why Triumph?

  • High growth. Build the real-world front door to a high-scale consumer platform that touches gaming and collectibles.
  • High agency. Small, high-impact operations team with significant opportunity for leadership and growth.
  • Competitive salary and benefits. $400/mo lunch credit, healthcare, vision, dental, 401k, etc.
