About the role

Original posting from Figure AI via Greenhouse

Figure is an AI robotics company developing autonomous general-purpose humanoid robots. The goal of the company is to ship humanoid robots with human level intelligence. Its robots are engineered to perform a variety of tasks in the home and commercial markets. Figure is based in San Jose, CA and requires 5 days/week in-office collaboration.

This is a senior, hands-on execution role for someone who's comfortable operating at both altitudes, thinking through systems and processes at a high level, then rolling up their sleeves to get the day-to-day right. You'll own HR operations end to end, acting as the go-to person for our HR platforms and vendor relationships, keeping leaves and accommodations running smoothly, and staying on top of compliance for our hourly workforce. You have a knack for taking undefined, messy processes and turning them into systems that just work at scale, and you're always looking for ways to make the employee experience better at every stage of the journey.

Responsibilities:

Employee Lifecycle & Experience

Own the employee lifecycle end-to-end (onboarding, job changes, offboarding, records, verifications), ensuring every step is seamless, compliant, and audit ready.

Continuously audit and elevate the employee experience, gathering feedback to remove operational friction and build a high empathy, high efficiency workplace.

Serve as a trusted point of contact for employee HR inquiries, resolving tickets within SLAs and handling complex escalations with judgment and discretion.

Manage statutory leaves end-to-end and lead interactive medical accommodation processes, coordinating state disability integration, communications, and return-to-work logistics.

Serve as the compliance escalation point for garnishments, complex leave cases, and sensitive offboarding events.

Payroll, Benefits & Hourly Workforce

Run accurate, end-to-end payroll for exempt and non-exempt teams, including final pay calculations, severance, and leave-related adjustments.

Maintain strict timekeeping hygiene across hourly populations, tracking daily punch accuracy, shift differentials, and meal/rest break compliance.

Partner with our benefits broker to manage health, 401(k), and wellness programs; lead annual Open Enrollment and evaluate benefit competitiveness.

Audit and reconcile monthly carrier billings, benefit feeds, and agency staffing invoices to eliminate financial discrepancies.

Programs, Projects & Data Governance

Serve as primary system administrator for our People tech stack (HRIS, timekeeping, ticketing), managing configurations, permissions, workflows, and integrations.

Partner with the broader People team on compensation and job architecture (levels, job families, pay bands), keeping system data clean and current.

Partner with People Partner to build and maintain a centralized People Ops knowledge repository (SOPs, handbooks, compliance calendars) to maximize self-service support.

Maintain uncompromising data integrity across headcount, worker classifications, shift assignments, and equity data.

Lead cross-functional People projects as we scale, from org design updates to vendor evaluations and policy rollouts.

Requirements

6+ years of progressive People Operations experience in a high-growth tech, or robotics environment.

Deep experience configuring workflows, permissions, and integrations; direct experience administering Rippling is strongly preferred.

Direct experience partnering with benefits brokers/platforms and leading annual Open Enrollment.

Demonstrated success processing multi-state payroll, enforcing non-exempt timecard compliance, and supporting contingent/agency workforces.

Strong working knowledge of California employment law, FLSA classifications, and benefits administration frameworks.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $110,000 – $200,000. The pay range for this role reflects the two levels at which it may be filled (Specialist or Senior Specialist). Final leveling, title, and placement within the range will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience and skill set. The total compensation package may also include additional components/benefits depending on the specific role. This information will be shared if an employment offer is extended.
